I feel they do this every once in a while to get people to think about how important a service the MBTA provides, get people riled the fuck up, businesses in the city to complain (how would people get home from sox/celtics/patriots games? restaurants counting on commuter rails to get people to spend money, etc), and in the end, get more funding/find a resolution that isn’t even nearly as bad as these proposals. Lets hope I’m right about that.
I just really don’t know if I can be that optimistic. I’m sure the argument they’ll make is that they’ll “hold the last commuter rail train until the red sox/bruins/celtics” game is done, but completely discontinuing it on the weekend? Let alone the entire Mission Hill/Northeastern/Wentworth/Mass Art community and anyone who wants to visit the MFA on a weekend. I just don’t know if the MBTA actually cares about what anyone thinks.
